Gil Estes, Director
Gil Estes is a native of Atlanta, Georgia where he studied with Dr. Paul Mann and Mr. Bill Hill. He graduated from the Florida State University where he studied with Dr. William Cramer and Dr. John Drew, later attended the University of Northern Colorado where he studied with Mr. Buddy Baker. Gil is now attending Georgia State University and is continuing his Master of Music in Trombone Performance with Dr. Bill Mann (son of Dr. Paul Mann mentioned above).

As a high school band director in South Florida as well as metro-Atlanta his bands always received high ratings in both marching and concert performance. When he’s not playing at Georgia State University, Gil is an active free-lance musician, playing tenor and bass trombone in various venues and ensembles around metro-Atlanta. He also maintains a trombone studio and is the musical director for the Atlanta Trombone Ensemble.
Will Jayroe, Webmaster
Will Jayroe started playing trombone in 7th grade with the Clinton, Mississippi Band program run by David Willson, who also served as Director of Bands at Ole Miss from 1991 – 2023. In 1991, Will attended the University of Southern Mississippi for two years and studied trombone with Dr. Marta Hofacre. In 1993, he transferred to the University of North Texas to study with Dr. Vern Kagarice.

Will graduated from UNT in 1996 with a degree in Trombone Performance and then went on to earn a Masters of Art Education from Mississippi College. He taught trombone lessons for several years before starting a career in Web design and development. Will has been a member of the Atlanta Trombone Ensemble since 2023.
